Most of the time, if I’m not working or blogging, you may find me binge-watching movies or television shows on Netflix in my room with the lights out. It’s one of my favorite self-care activity I love doing because it relaxes me. I’ve watched a couple of movies and television shows this year (more than the amount of reading books I’ve challenged myself to read this year I’m afraid to say) that has either been funny, inspiring, or thrilling.
In this post, I’m going to be giving you a list of shows I’ve watched ( and rewatched) this year that you may take fancy to. Now, these movies and television shows are a mix of genres, so if you don’t like dark and mysterious, there’s some light comedic and witty movies/ television shows you might prefer too.
Let’s get started!
1. Dead To Me (1 Season)
This is by far a pretty good show! I’m all about uncovering secrets and mysteries, so I really quite enjoyed this. It contains friendship, family situations (especially from a mother’s standpoint), and of course, the mystery of the dead husband too. One thing I would like to say is if you do watch the preview before watching the show, don’t lean too much on the preview.
2. Wine Country***
This is not a show per se but it’s still a great movie to watch. It’s about a group of women who go to Wine Country in California, celebrating their friend’s 50 birthday. The main character, Amy Poehler (from Parks & Recreation, one of my favorite shows), is in it. I laughed all the way through the end. If you are a fan of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, then you’ll love this movie. It’s full of hearts, strong bonds, friendships, emotions, and laughter.
3. Stranger Things ( 2 Seasons, 3rd Seasons On July 4th)
Can I just say that this show is awesome? It’s full of my favorite things: the 80s, mysteries, and mild fantasy? Season 3 is starting July 4th, which I am so excited about. It’s about young boys who go into the woods which leads to their young friend missing. It’s full of government secrets, friendship, mild romance (which I am not fond of at all), and family dynamics.
4. One Day At A Time (3 Seasons)
I really like television shows that talk about family issues, race, and relationships ( on a certain level). It’s all about a Cuban mother who is single, a veteran, and lives with her two teenage kids and grandmother. It’s funny and emotional, revealing that no family is perfect, but love and honesty conquers all.
5. Kim’s Convenience (3 Seasons)
A bit similar to the previous show I mentioned above, this is about a Korean-Canadian family who owns a convenience store, dealing with customers while also dealing with each other’s life. It full of witty laughter, everyday issues with family and friends, and a bit of romance. It’s one show I would rewatch, after some months.
6. The Good Cop (1 Season)
When I found out about this show, I was waiting for the preview. Knowing that Josh Groban was going to be playing a cop (or detective) was something I truly wanted to watch. It is full of law and order, romance, laughter, and secrets. It’s a pretty good watch. And Josh Groban is such a cute handsome cop (crush on him).
There you go!
What are you currently watching on Netflix? It could be my next binge-watch!
Until Next Time,
