As a Christian, if you’ve been distracted by the worries and situations of the world, you are not alone. I’m going through this as well. It’s time for you, for us, to come back to God. And this season is the perfect time to do that! We can’t find ourselves watching TikTok or any social media all the time. The more we let our flesh take control of our day and life, the less we let God guide us.
He desires you, not because He needs you but because YOU need Him. As single, overworking women, we can get lost in our work, life, and thoughts. Instead, let’s get “lost” in the Word so we can come out of this season stronger and spiritually healthy.
So without further due, I’ve come up with 7 daily devotional books made for women like you to help you develop a quiet time with God. Some of these books I currently have which have helped me spend quality time in the Word. I hope it helps you to grow spiritually as well.
Let’s get started.
This post is about daily devotional books for women
Jesus Calling – Enjoying Peace In His Presence
I bought this book at Barnes and nobles but it can found on Amazon. This book is a yearly devotional book, giving you a daily devotional read you can ponder on and pray about every day. One main reason I bought the book was how the words were written; as if God/Jesus was speaking to me. If you enjoy a personal letter from God to you, then I recommend this book.
365 Devotions To Embrace What Matters Most
I like devotional books. Not that it takes me away from the bible itself, but it’s a great supplemental resource to use to extend your knowledge of who God is. Therefore, growing close to Him. What I like most about this book, since I have this one as well, is that it delivers practical lessons for everyday life. It makes you ponder on what matters most to you, because if something matters a lot to you, then you’ll be able to enjoy it to the fullest, right? This book goes into detail when you read it daily, so I recommend this book if you want to understand the importance of living a purposeful life, especially through God.
Grace For The Moment: Inspirational Thoughts For Each Day Of The Year
This book was written was Max Lucado. If you know of his work, and you also find his writing to be inspirational, then you would like this devotional book. I haven’t personally read it myself, but it has received good reviews from those that have read it. Like a devotional book, it contains daily stories of hope in God, accompanied by scripture for support.
Our Daily Bread from Our Daily Bread Ministries
This is another devotional book, that I receive from my church, that I use from time to time. It’s not a yearly devotional book; it only contains 3-month worth of devotion you can read through. This is not a book per se since they have an app that you can read and listen to when you’re on the go. It’s packed with stories from different authors and the life lessons that led them to know more of God. It is also accompanied by biblical verse, from daily to yearly readings.
God Hears Her: 365 Daily Devotion for Women
Do you sometimes feel as if no one is hearing you? No one understands you as you would like to? Well, there’s someone that hears you, knows you and, understands you. That’s God. In this devotional book, you’ll encounter stories of women who went through what you went through, and thought that God wasn’t listening to them. It’s a 365 daily devotional filled with messages full of reassurance, leading you to fill yourself with hope and faith in the one and only God. He never gave up on you, so don’t give up on Him!
Prayer Journal for Women: 52 Week Scripture, Devotional & Guided Prayer Journal
I believe that the purpose of a devotional or quiet time is getting to spend more quality time with God, learn about Him in His Word, and to grow in the Holy Spirit. If you’re a journaling type of person, then this devotional might be great for you. You can journal your thoughts based on the daily word and scripture verse you’re reading during the day, and reflect on it while talking to God. Make sure you accompany yourself with your bible as well!
The Beautiful Word Devotional: Bringing the Goodness of Scripture to Life in Your Heart
According to the book’s description, this devotional book is dedicated to busy women who need real-life questions and answers to their every life situation. Who doesn’t, right? We all go through struggles that may seem hard and difficult. And sometimes, it can distract us from the One that already overcame it! If you need a refresh, this is a 365-day book is filled with encouraging words while strengthening you to trust in God and His promises.
Here are some tips starting your own quiet time:
- Pray first. Since this is your time with God, coming to Him with a thankful and forgiveness heart will help your mind and heart approach the Word in the right way. Also, ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance before reading the devotional. The Holy Spirit can guide you as you read and may open your eyes to words that may stand out to you that you need to grasp.
- Always accompany yourself with a journal and pen. If you like highlighters, grab that too. Remember, this is a personal time between you and God. So taking notes of God is saying to you through the bible and the devotional book may be important to jot down. Your journal doesn’t have to be fancy. A simple college-ruled notebook is fine. I use this journal if you seek a journal similar to this.
- Don’t let a devotional book take you away from the Bible, the Word of God. The devotional book is only for supplemental use! Read your bible as always and use the devotional book for extra education. You may find yourself reading the devotional by itself at times, but let the bible be the first and foremost basic instruction tool and resource in your life.
There you have it! I hope one of these devotional books has caught your attention. But let this attention come from the Holy Spirit, so you can make the right choice of what sort of devotional tools and resources is best for your life.
We’re all meant to live a life full of purpose, but that purpose can only be filled and lived through God. So spend some time with Him and let Him fill your life with what you need.
As I mentioned, you’re not alone because I am going through this as well. So let’s stand strong together, praying for one another to grow close to the Only Love who knows us better than ourselves.
Until Next Time,
