How To Face Your Fears and Live Your Dreams

You may or may know this but deep down, we all have some level of fear. The big difference between you and all those people you can see who are successful is that they confronted their fears. They worked through their issues to get ahead or went ahead despite them. If you don’t face your fears, you’re likely to miss out on a lot in life such as your dreams, building your own business, or even travel.

Someone once said that one of the saddest ways to sum up life is with could have, might have, and should have. Don’t let that happen to you. You have a choice between controlling or being controlled by your fears. Don’t let fear control you. You have the power so use it to your own advantage.

If you’re ready to face your fears, here are 5 top tips for overcoming your fears, achieve your goals, and live your dreams.

This post is about how to face your fears and live your dreams

Face Your Fear Tip #1: Take baby steps

You know what my fear was a long time ago? And no it wasn’t fear of bugs or heights (still a bit afraid of those roller coasters and bee stings), it was actually fear of applying myself to things that I was scared to mess up. One of the things was I was actually scared of was starting a blog. People will tell you that it’s not a job (hence the reason why I am also going back to school for counseling so I can the two together with some way), and how it would make you stand out if there are billions of blogs out there in the world?

But to be honest, those words sort of stopped me from going further with starting a blog for about a year (just know that I have been blogging for about 2 years or so), but I thought all these stores that people go to every day. From Aldi’s, Kroger, Thom thumbs, to Wal-Mart, people have their preferences of where they prefer to go for grocery shopping. These stores each have their own unique take on how to make their brands stand out so that people can gravitate to their stores.

And I think that’s what I am still learning about my blog. I want to make it stand out for my blog to gravitate to the right audience that I desire to attract. That is why the one thing I believe that stands me out from other blogs is my resource library. I am continuously adding things into my resource library based on the topics I write on my blog.

From the ebook, journal prompts, workbooks, grocery lists, and just lists of various subjects, I know that my resource library can help my target audience in every area of their life. If you want to check it out, subscribe and check it out. You can always unsubscribe at any time, promise!

No matter what your fears are, from public speaking, traveling solo, moving out fo your parents’ house at a later age, or even applying for a new job because you were so comfortable (yes that can be fear too), you don’t have to do it all in one go. Exercise what you want to achieve and take baby steps.

So let’s say that you want to lose weight, start removing sugar from your eating habit bit by bit. Switch sugar for a fruit. If you trying to save money for something big in the future, start saving $40 each week or biweekly. The point here is to make habitual. Each small success will build your confidence, change your mindset, and shrink down that fear.

Face Your Fear Tip #2: You Don’t Have To Do it Alone

No one said you had to hide your fear or overcome it all by yourself. There were times I had to get advice or support from friends and family who helped me really well get over some fears that I had prior. Now there were other times where I had to face my fears all by myself, in which I faced them.

Build up a support network of family, friends, and colleagues who’ll have your back and cheer you on. Nothing is better than having someone supporting to get through your journey. You can also get professional advice from a life coach, counselor, or mentor.

If you have anxiety issues that seem overwhelming, get professional help. Be kind to yourself and get whatever support you need. Just don’t do it alone. Doing it alone can be basically doing nothing at all.

Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Face Your Fear Tip #3: Create a Positive Mindset

A positive mindset will go a long way to help dismiss fears and worries. A negativity mindset makes things worse, increasing your helplessness, anxiety, and overall affecting your mental health.

Look around you and actively identify what’s going right in your life. Whatever is triggering your fears, you need to know them so you can ultimately create a positive mindset. It’s not going to be easy. Plus, just as it is easy to build a bad habit, so it is with a negative mindset.

Change your mindset and expectations to focus on abundance and success. Half the battle is learning to accept that you deserve success, so yeah, you deserve to win. You can focus your energy on getting there. Don’t give up.

Face Your Fear Tip #4: Rewrite Your Story

Rewriting your story can knock out your fears once and for all. If you see yourself as a skilled, successful person, those self-doubts and that negative self-talk won’t be able to get a hold of you.

Take control of your story, decide to be brave, confident and successful. Write down all the negative things that go round and round in your head. Make a list, and for every bad thing write a positive one.

Shut down the self-doubt by fixing up your skills, and your strengths. You’ll soon see they outnumber the weaknesses, and you’ll be back in control of your own success story and living your dreams once and for all. So take that step now and see where you can be rather than imagining where you want to be.

Face Your Fear Tip #5: Eliminate your Fears With Your Why

You have dreams and a purpose in your life. We all do actually. But if we let fear rise over us and tell us that we can’t do or that, we’re believing the ‘truth’ that we’re not capable of doing any of these things we desire to achieve. Therefore, tackle your fears by answering it with your why your reason to do this. And make sure that it’s a need that’s so passionate within your spirit that you won’t even think about your fears anymore!

Why do you need to travel? Why do you need to save up your money? Why do you need another job? All of these questions will lead you to fully grasp what it is that you need. Using the word ‘need’ will strengthen your reason to face your fears.

There you go! I hope this post has given you perspective on how to face your fears once and start living your dreams. If you need an additional boost, I have a list of bible verses and quotes that can help you shut down your fears. Subscribe and check out my resource library!
