Are you looking to start your morning routine by keeping a positive mindset but don’t know how? Have you always woke up on the wrong side of the bed? Are you looking for a sure-fire morning routine that boosts your mood for the rest of the day?
If you’re looking to find the best morning routine for your life, I wrote a blog post on what could be the best morning routine for any individual, in collaboration with other fellow bloggers that mentioned their morning routine.
If you’re looking to start your morning with a positive mindset, or just want to have a positive mindset altogether, this blog post is for you.
Sometimes, some suggestions tell us to stay positive or look on the bright side, especially when things aren’t going very well throughout our day. Unfortunately, they never seem to have much advice on how to do this. So I wrote this blog post that will explain and show you how to keep a positive mindset.
This post is about how to keep a positive mind
Start your morning positive with things to be grateful for. Use a journal to write down your thoughts all throughout your morning so that your gratitude can turn into a positive attitude.
I have a lot of things that I can be grateful for in the morning such as drinking tea, warm/hot water to take a shower, and even just looking outside my window at nature. Small things like these are precious. To get into the habit of gratitude, incorporate it into your daily morning routine. This is definitely going to help you be positive in the mind and enhance your lifestyle.
If you’re a Christian, start your day by thanking God for another breath you take, for your eyes to see, a job that can pay the bills, and for good health.
Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Psalm 100:2 NIV
If you’re looking for ways to be more grateful, here’s a post on 7 ways to modestly show gratitude to yourself and to others.
Be Aware Of Your Negative Thoughts
You can say that I was a negative thinking person. It was difficult to keep a positive mind. If something, even just a little issue started in my life, I would freak out. Thinking of the worst-case scenario, it would lead me to detach myself from everyone or even become negative most of the day.
Another scenario that popped into my mind was how to use my negative thoughts to shame my body. Being younger and told that you were ugly really did a number on me. If anyone was to tell me that I was pretty or looked nice, I would question their motive for saying such a thing.
It took me a while to get over these issues but I’m moving forward. Over time I learned to consider my thoughts and catch my negative thoughts if they appeared. Though words have power, it’s the mind- the thoughts that can navigate your life through a positive build up or tear down.
That is why practicing mindfulness is important.
Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention, usually to your breath or your thoughts. Mindful breathing is often used to control stress, but mindful thinking can lead to a more positive life. We tend to take our thoughts for granted but they can still make a difference as they float through our minds.
When we pay more attention to what thoughts we’re actually having throughout the day it can be easier to shake off the negative thoughts and focus on the positive.
Introduce Positive Thoughts
Just like our thoughts can upset us when we don’t notice them, we also intentionally introduce thoughts that make ourselves feel better. Trying to replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts can be a very valuable tool. Think of this as a habitual lifestyle. There’s a post I wrote on how to stop feeling negative about yourself if you want to read more on it.
Also, understand that ignoring the negative isn’t thinking positively. So, negative thinking needs to be understood to implement positive thinking. Keeping a positive mindset is about making the best out of the worst that life gives us.
Avoid Negative People
It is difficult for us to be positive when we are surrounded by negative people. I think we’ve all been there. Remember high school anyone?
That means people who practice negativity will eventually bring out the negativity in us.
It could be that one person that knows that you don’t drink alcohol but slowly offers it to you with or without intentions. When a coworker or friend spread a rumor about another friend and, eventually, you join in the gossip, you then start being negative.
This could also be with where you want to be, life-wise. If you want to own a business, but you’re hanging with a group that’s not moving toward that goal, then finding new friends may be what you need to do.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that we need to remove these people from our lives forever. For the sake of self-care, it’s important to set boundaries to stop ourselves from further possible issues. I wrote a post on how to set boundaries in your life if you want to check it out.
Look At Challenges As Opportunities
When we see an opportunity that seems difficult, our thought and work process will lead to negative outcomes. However, if we see challenges as opportunities, we reap numerous benefits, such as an enhancement of your skills or another open door that to even better opportunities.
This is me with graduate school. The thought of writing papers every day makes me want to quit.
I thought about quitting daily…which then led my academic skills to decline when I didn’t put in the work.
But then I don’t quit. Why? Because I see this as an improvement in my skills. I see this as a learning opportunity that I can apply in other aspects of my life.
Sometimes, situations will not go our way, but the only way to move is forward. This is how keeping a positive mindset will be for your life when you encourage yourself.
Spend Time In Self-Care
There are many ways we spend our time. It is either with people or with ourselves. When we spend time with people, we tend to hang out with them and do whatever they may want to do (unless you both chose an activity together to do). However, this may also be a bit of a setback when considering spending time with ourselves.
Applying a balance between spending time with others and yourself will produce positive outcomes. When you spend time with yourself, you can come to understand where you are at the moment and where you want to be. Maybe spending to much time with friends hinders you from building that business, going back to school, or even saving money (if you’re going out with your friends every day or so).
So there you go! I hope you found this post informative and enlightening to help you develop the positive you need for your life.
