It’s the holidays! Are you finding the time to relax and enjoy more of what the holiday brings? If you’re not, this can mean two things: you’re stressing over what to buy for your loved ones, or you’re taking it day by day, enjoying the present. I’m guessing you’re doing the latter. Obviously, we all have to get prepped up for the holidays and the shopping. However, that doesn’t mean we cannot have some ‘me time’ to ourselves this season.

If you haven’t prepared yourself this season for some ‘me time’ why haven’t you?

  • Been busy?
  • Have you had a hard time saying no to friends and family?
  • Are you getting distracted much?
  • Are you involved in everyone’s life but not yours?

These are just a few questions I know you’ve said yes to.

As much as it’s good being busy helping other people (and buying them gifts), there are certain times when you need some alone time. It’s very much-needed. You’re finding yourself tired out after work, volunteering, or helping a loved one that you get overtired and, to be honest, stressed.

Nobody got time for that!!!

That’s why ‘me time’ is critically important. You rejuvenate, reduce anxiety, and recuperate from the stress of the daily grind.

I really do believe that getting me time for anyone is necessary. If you set a day or time to relax, even for 20 minutes, you’ll notice it physically, mentally, and even spiritually.

Without further due, here are 12 simple stress-free holiday ideas where you can have a date with yourself, reflect, relax and just have some plain fun.

But first…

  • Make sure you pick and organize a day of the week or choose a day or three out of the month when you can actually fulfill these activities.
  • Next, tell your friends and family that you’ll be having these ‘me time’ on such days of the month. This will give them plenty of time to remember that you should not be disturbed unless it was an emergency.

Ready now? Let’s get started.

Need some stress-free holiday ideas? Check out these 8 simple ideas and tips to help you have some quality 'me time' during the holidays.

Stress-Free Holiday Idea #1: Write In Your Journal

Having a journal is always something to have when you want to let out your thoughts and feelings. You can also write the emotion you want to feel that day.

For example, if you want to feel happy, then write out the things that you want to do that makes you happy. The most important part is sticking to it!

Stress-Free Holiday Idea #2: Take an hour or two from electronics

If you have ever have taken time from electronics while doing something else? It gives you more clarity, it reduces stress and frustration (on my part). Plus, turning off electronics is necessary because it gets you to enjoy the things that were more important before electronics was born.

Here are some things you can do while you’re away from your electronics for an hour or two (that means no television or smartwatch too):

  • Take a walk
  • Eat breakfast
  • Do some chores
  • Write your plans for the week
  • Reflect in your journal
  • Read a book
  • Make a mood board (pre-plan it if you need to)
  • Organize your home (pre-plan if you need to)
  • Pray and Meditate on God & His Word (if you’re a Christian)
  • Have a Mani-Pedi

As you can see these are just a few that you can do as you make the time to be away from electronics. When you’re doing these after two hours, you’ll know the difference. Trust me. I’ve done and still do it at times. It really helps.

Stress-Free Holiday Idea #3: Go Shopping

Urban Outfitters & H&M by far are my favorite stores to shop. When I just want some alone time, I go shopping for things I may need (and want) to let the day pass by. And, sometimes, I go to Barnes and Noble’s to read a book (or buy it) that may interest me.

Do you like shopping? By all means shop, but not until you drop. Remember, you’re not trying to be stressed, it’s all about being at ease.

For a suggestion, buy items dedicated to your me-time. This way, you won’t have to be frustrated or annoyed with your purchase. If you want particular pajamas for your me-time, then buy it. Want to read a new book? Then buy a book. Whatever you have planned for your me-time, use those times too to make your future me time relaxed and comforted.

Stress-Free Holiday Idea #4: Plan a Spa Day

Whether at home or a specific facility, make time for yourself and get pampered. Get that deep massage you’ve always wanted, put on some face mask, or take that bubble bath you’ve always wanted. It’s that time when you unwind and reducing anxiety, reminding you that it’s your day to relax and be at peace with yourself.

Another way to plan your perfect spa day is to create a DIY Spa Kit. This way, when you’re in a mood for a spa treatment, you can do it in the comfort of your own home.

Here are a few DIY Spa Mask website links you should to go to and try on, based on your skin type:

These recipes are easy to do, especially the mud mask recipe, used with the Indian Healing Clay. I personally use the Shea Moisture Clarifying Mud Mask, and add a little honey or Shea butter, to soften my skin.

Here are some TV shows you might be interested in watching during your me-time on Netflix:

  1. New Girl – Comedy
  2. Calling The Midwife – A Drama show of the life of the midwives and the families they encounter
  3. Stranger Things – Only 2 Seasons for now but worth the watch.
  4. The Crown – Drama
  5. Jane The Virgin – Love me some Latina Drama!
  6. The Good Cop – If you’re a fan of Josh Groban, you’ll definitely want to watch this new show.

Stress-Free Holiday Idea #6: Invite A Friend Or Family Member

Maybe you want to bring a loved along for your me-time, then go right on ahead. Remember, this is still your me-time. Do as you like, as you also compromise with your loved one.

Stress-Free Holiday Idea #8: Shop Early

The earlier you shop, the better and easier it is for you to relax and enjoy some me time to yourself. Shopping ahead could help you save a lot of money so you could do more with your time when the holiday comes.

One thing I have always done for myself is to write down a list of whom I am going to shop earlier in the year, while also adding a budget to each person. Next, I would look for sales I could use to buy whatever items I have chosen to buy for my friends/family. And I do it all before October.

I would look into websites like or for sales also. Now, if you would like some cash back, try signing up with Ebates and shop your favorite stores through their websites all year. The more you use their websites to shop online, which contains all different kinds of shopping stores, you’ll get cashback for each store you’ve shopped and purchased from.

Do your best with what you spend on your friends/family so you can also spend time with yourself during the holidays.

In Conclusion

There you go! I’ve explained why your me-time is necessary and how it would impact you spiritually, physically, and mentally. Also, I’ve provided several ways to spend your time to yourself, and even with a friend. Remember, always plan ahead when you shop. So make time for yourself and don’t suffer during the holidays. So get ‘er done!
